Winter is basically here which means lots of food, family and even possibly an engagement ring?! I love that so many proposals and engagements happen around the holidays because it makes this time of year that much more special. Casual winter engagement photo outfits are all the rave this engagement season, so I have to share the trendy, the timeless and the stunning outfit inspirations with you!
I always recommend couples to have engagement photos taken as soon as possible! When you are newly engaged you have so many fun emotions to capture and remember for a life time. In addition, you will be able to use these engagement images for save the dates, bridal party invites and so much more!
One of my all time favorite casual winter engagement photo outfits is layering denim over a sweater. The layers will give you a beautiful sense of dimension in the outfit, adding interest and contrast. While the different fabrics and materials add warm textures. You can also achieve a few different looks by removing layers through out your Knoxville engagement session!
In this session (below) I love how simple the groom kept his outfit. It was would be the perfect complimentary outfit, no matter what his bride chose to wear. Perfectly casual, but elevated for the occasion! Not to mention, THE BOOTS! You can never go wrong with a brown boot in the fall and winter months.
Patterns are such a great way to dress up a casual outfit. When choosing to wear patterns for your winter engagement session I always suggest you consider your surroundings. Try to keep the pattern from looking too busy in the environment you are shooting in. You want to stand out in the location, but you do not want to clash.
Try to only have one person wear patterns for your engagement session, I promise this will look the best in the end. However, if you are both wanting to incorporate patterns then follow this one rule. Have a different scale of patterns. By having a small and large scale pattern you avoid your clothing “running together” and competing.
With so many young professionals in our world, you probably already have something like this in your closet! Create a casual winter engagement photo outfits by dressing in neutral urban business attire. I absolutely adore this look because it is so modern and fresh. The images always look upscale and young, which makes your engagement gallery unique and timeless!
To add to the sophisticated business casual look, this couple (below) chose to have their engagement session in downtown Knoxville. The architecture and quiet streets added to the romance of the session, as well as bringing and old world feel to their gallery.
One of the best pieces of advice I can give for casual winter engagement photo outfits is to have some sort of contrast. Whether that is having an outfit that contrasts against your back grounds, or each other. By creating a contrast you will bring more attention to the subject of your engagement pictures, which of course is you!
This darling session (below) was an adventure engagement session in the mountains. I love how the couple wore comfortable clothes to hike that wear more than just t-shirts and jeans. By adding a more dressy top to your comfortable hiking clothes your engagement picture will look more put together and appealing.
When choosing your casual winter engagement photo outfits don’t only think about “the look” you are going for. Also consider who you are and what you feel most comfortable wearing. These are YOUR engagement photos, they deserve to represent who you are as a couple at this moments in time. Once you have said “a million times yes!” reach out and let’s set up your winter engagement session!
