Right before the craziness of 2020, I got a call from my friend Elizabeth. I had photographed her wedding a couple of years ago, and she was wondering about my availability for a date this summer. Turned out her brother would be getting married, and I would get to capture their breathtaking adventure wedding in Boston!
As I talked on the phone with Alexander and Rachel, I felt like I was reminiscing with good friends! These guys grew up together, went to the same church, and even dated in high school! They were absolutely adorable, and I loved getting to capture their story in so many fun locations in Boston like Acorn Street!
Trying to plan everything with Corona was pretty complicated, but I ended up being able to fly out! A lot of the hours that would have been used to photograph their reception we used to shoot an epic extended adventure session through out some of Boston’s most gorgeous locations such as Beacon Hill! for their wedding. Which means that we got to spend 4 hours exploring Boston and Concord!
We woke up at 5:30 in the morning, masked up, and headed into Boston for our adventure! The way the morning light hit the rolling fog causing the water the glisten was remarkable. There were some yachts tied up to the dock which made this experience even more elegant and beautiful.
Afterwards we hopped in the car, and headed to these outstanding arches by the Christopher Columbus statue. The greenery was so vibrant and full of life. It was the perfect spot to capture Alexander and Rachel’s love for each other.
Then we took some pictures on State Street, which was amazing! While in front of the post office we got the most gorgeous pictures of the city, with towering skyscrapers framing the bride and groom. There were construction workers nearby who were screaming their congratulations at my couple, it was so much fun! Then we took some more wedding pictures in Boston’s public gardens and ended up at my favorite location: Acorn Street.
Acorn Street is one of the most beautiful historical streets that I have ever seen. It just looks absolutely untouched, as if you walked into colonial America. It was so breathtakingly beautiful, and being able to walk down those streets while capturing Alexander and Rachel together for their wedding day was seriously a thing of dreams!
After that, we piled in the car and continued our adventure from Boston to Concord. We went to the Old North Bridge and took pictures in the garden there. After playing with the light a little and capturing the last of the pictures for the day, we all headed home to get some sleep.
The next day, I met Alexander and Rachel with their family at the LDS Boston Temple. There we were able to have some gorgeous photos done with everyone together. I’m so glad that we did an epic extended adventure session before the wedding so that they could have everything they had dreamed of, and just enjoy their wedding day together.
We ended their wedding with a drive-by reception. They had a cute little arch and a comfy chair to sit on while their friends and family drove by in cars, fully masked, to congratulate them. It’s a crazy world we live in, but these newlyweds really made the best of it! I’m so glad that they trusted me enough to fly me out, so that I could capture their perfect Boston wedding.
Traveling to photograph moments like this is what I live for! I’d love to capture your day no matter how adventurous or intimate and small, I am down for anything!
