Shooting in the Outer Banks was a dream come true, especially after watching Netflix’s new series, (hello, John B). We were able to explore and let the couple just have fun. I was left totally in awe and inspired by the scenery and decided to come up with a boho theme Outer Banks inspired list of wedding must haves. If you’re planning a boho wedding or maybe even elopement – I’ve come up with a list of the best Boho Adventure Outer Banks inspired wedding must haves I could find.
This has been one of 2020’s biggest trends, the boho vibes, with lacy gowns, hats, and big green florals, and it’s been one of my favorites to capture, seriously, ever. Let’s get to the fun part, and start the wedding planning!
Main things to take away from this trend are flowy, casual, and lace, with deep plunging backs or intricate almost whimsical looking elements. It shows a soft femininity while still being totally adventurous and giving off that bohemian vibe we all love. Here are a couple I LOVED for some inspo when you go dress shopping.
A few of my favorite boho styled hairstyles are loose curls, braids, fishtails or floral crowns.
Brides have been able to have fun and really show off their wedding colors with their groom’s suit/tie/accessories. In some of my weddings, we’ve had burgundy suits, pink suits, and even suspenders and vests! This is one of my favorite parts to see because it shows more of the groom’s personality and makes their wedding unique to their relationship!
Generally these types of weddings are outdoors or in adventure locations. I’ve shot weddings in Knoxville at the Quarry, or even in the Smoky Mountains. I’ve done a few boho themed weddings in Grand Teton National Park and in the Outer Banks! It totally depends on the couple’s vibe and vision for their big day.
Most of the cakes brides are choosing include lots of greenery and florals are used to accent the classic white cakes.
Geometric arches, table settings, and flowers everywhere. Very low key and romantic, with lots of macrame, cozy tents and couches. Less is more in these types of weddings.
I love when brides wear hats or flower crowns for bridals and throughout their day, it gives another boho twist to the day and adds more personality to their shots. It gives a great bohemian vibe to their wedding!
Boho weddings have the best floral arrangements ever (don’t even try to change my mind, haha). They are so earthy and organic with lots of greenery and not typically used florals. Wheat is a huge trend in boho themed bouquets and decor for that natural, organic, and low-key vibe.
Overall boho weddings are some of my favorites to shoot and have been a huge theme for 2020. Shooting in the Outer Banks and loving their overall vibe and boho theme was so much fun and I can’t wait to shoot more. Let’s make your boho dream wedding come to life!
