Backyard weddings are getting all the hype these days! And for so many reasons. It is easy to borrow your childhood garden and it is so meaningful to be married in a place that has so many sweet memories. You can level it up and rent an outside venue by a lake or river. And the best part of it all is that every direction you look is gorgeous with built in greenery! But how can you turn a normal yard in something romantic and magical? No worries girl, because I have got you!
Using china for your dishware is the epidemy of class, but it can be expensive! If you don’t want to pay the pretty penny to rent china for the night from a vendor, then I have the perfect solution. Go to all of your local thrift stores and see what you can find! You wont be able to come up with a matching set for all of your guests, but you can mix and match to come up with a unique table lay. Here are a few tips when using thrifted china for your backyard wedding.
Think of what type of furniture pieces you would want for an indoor wedding, now bring that outside! And I am not just talking about tables and chair. Bring our large furniture pieces like couches for lounging during cocktail hour. Find a pair of arm chairs that you adore for the bride and groom’s table. Cute tables or vanities for dessert tables and gift tables. The list seriously goes on! Bringing furniture outside makes your backyard wedding look more put together and cozy. No longer is it just an open yard, it has become a classy room for an epic celebration!
One of my favorite items that I have seen brought outdoors for a backyard wedding is this mirror! I am pretty obsessed with how the couple had a custom sticker put on. And the details of the mirrors frame were to die for! It was a one of a kind piece that really brought personality to the space, as well as defined the space.
Nine times out of ten, when you have a backyard wedding it is during the day. So, why the heck would you need lighting? Well, you don’t really need the light, what you really need is the fixture. Creating a “ceiling” is super important when it come to backyard weddings. It creates a “room”, while still allowing an open concept. Adding a chandelier to a gazebo, a tree branch, and especially over the alter gives your backyard wedding more definition and really gives you a sophisticated look!
Something that is making a come back when it comes to backyard weddings is draping. The styles, type of drapes, and creativity is insane! If you thought you knew wedding draping, think again. This option is a classy way to provide shade for your guests during the ceremony and reception. Make your draping even more interesting with a balance of tradition linens and industrial styled string lights.
Planning a back yard wedding? I have got you covered! These tips will be sure to impress your guests and add classy feeling to your wedding day. You will look back at your photos and be shocked with how amazing your parents backyard looked! You’ll remember all the memories in that yard, including the best day of your life.
