Covid-19 has taught us many things, like the importance of actually washing our hands and giving others a personal space of six feet. And as a photographer I discovered the beauty and need for in home engagement sessions. It is so special to see a couple in their own space with each other. The level of comfort and love that in home engagement sessions provide is outstanding! These sessions seriously need to become more common.
You may be thinking that your home isn’t big enough to provide enough variety in a gallery. But trust me when I say that no home is too small! Just take the kitchen for example. I will pose you at the table together, sitting on the counter, playing in the sink, sneak a picture from outside your window looking in. Sure, it takes some creativity, but just leave that to me!
My favorite place for an in home engagement session has to be the living room. Living rooms are just so warm and cozy. Cuddled up on the couch or dancing your heart out to my custom playlist on your area rug. There are endless possibilities in a living room, and really bring a fun vibe to the photos.
Want a more romantic atmosphere? Let’s take this thing to the bedroom! Cuddling up on your bed, looking each other in the eyes and giggling with how smitten you are. This is what you will be doing for the rest of your lives together. These are seriously the moments that you want to never forget, so lets snap a few photos and never forget!
A lot of my clients love the outdoors, and with an in-home engagement session you assume the session would be indoors. But why miss out on the beauty of lush green trees and bushes, or the flower bed you planted together? I want to take you outside! I want to catch you too at dusk dancing on your patio, or hiding behind a bush sneaking a kiss. You get the comfort of your own home with the beauty of the outdoors.
Oh, you live in an apartment? No problem. We can use the courtyard of your apartment complex or go down the street to a park. Like I said before, it can take a little bit of creativity, but I am a firm believer that you can make any location work and get gorgeous photos.
Want to know a secret? You don’t have to use your own home. We all have that one friend, aunt or even parent who has a gorgeous home. A place that when you walk in you feel right at home, but also feel like you just walked into a Home & Gardens magazine. That is exactly who you want to ask if you could borrow their home for an hour or so!
If you feel a little nervous to ask someone to borrow their house for an in home engagement session, let me put your heart at ease. Most people are flattered. Usually the people with the put together homes work hard on getting it to look that way. From the planning and shopping to actually keeping it presentable, it is a lot of work. So, when someone basically asks if they can use their home as a backdrop, people take it as a great compliment!
If I have sold you on it yet, let me just share with you a few perks to in home engagement sessions.
Your home is one of the most special and sacred places for your relationship. It is where you will go for peace and safety. It is where you will learn and grow the most together. It is a true haven from the world. There are so many fun things about having an in home engagement session, but at the end of the day it is really about capturing your admiration for each other and how you express that in your little corner of the world. Invite me over, I would love to capture all the beauty within your home.
