Ever been told that? Let me guess, you really want to start blogging but don’t know where to start. It can be intimidating! Remembering all the keywords, and sounding professional but friendly and keeping readers engaged. All while hoping that what you’re doing is actually DOING something. I’m going to share some quick tips that have been total game changers for my blogging and have helped me reach more people and book more clients!
As a photographer, blogging is critical to your SEO and another great way to get your work out there and reach more people. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy, or incredibly long and drawn out.
This helps keep things to the point, while still providing helpful details to your readers. I like to send out questionnaires to my clients to make writing their blog post more personal (and easier to write). We want to ensure that what we’re spending time working on is actually doing something for our business. 300-500 words with keywords helps Google rank you higher which increases your SEO and helps get you SEEN.
While writing your blog, don’t forget the most important part..the pictures! You spend so much time between location scouting, posing, culling, and editing, let’s show off your hard work. Generally I’ll use anywhere from 30-50 images while naming 15 with different keywords for Google. I want to be seen for a few different keywords and this is one way to do that!
Tag your location. When clients are looking for photographers locally, you want to show up! Start tagging where you live and increase your odds of being found, booked and loved. While living near Jackson Hole, because I used and tagged Jackson Hole and various keywords, I was getting found and reached out to all the time. Blogging is all about the little things, and this is one of the important ones.
Why spend all this time and effort writing these blogs if you’re not going to share them? Post little pieces of your blog everywhere, use it for captions, post the links on your Facebook page, everywhere. The more you share the blog, the more people that will see it!
Off site SEO is an important building block that shows Google you have good content which leads to higher rankings! Getting talked about on other websites can help your off-site SEO like crazy.
Pinterest is one of my favorite secret weapons for blogging ever. Whenever I finish a new blog, I immediately go share to Pinterest. Blogs I have written have gone viral overnight on Pinterest and have brought me more clients than I can count. They find a helpful blog, and stick around to see what Look for the Light is all about. That my friends, is what it’s all about.
Did you know I have a course all about blogging? I teach you the most important tools to get you up and running with your blog.
