Wedding trends are some of my favorite things to watch and look out for, and with winter coming, that means new wedding ideas and trends! Wedding planning is in full swing, especially with seasons beginning to change. Winter weddings are some of my favorites to shoot with all the snow, twinkly lights, and deep burgundy colors it reminds me of home and some of my favorite memories with my family. But, how do you make your wedding different and what winter wedding trends should you look out for? I’ve got you covered with all of my favorite wedding ideas for the coming season.
These two are huge during winter and especially for this upcoming year. Eucalyptus is one of my favorites used in bouquets and centerpieces, it adds such an elegant and modern touch. It can be used for bohemian themed weddings and winter weddings alike. Burgundy will always be a popular and trendy color especially during the colder months, it’s a warmer color and looks so classic against the winter snow.
Geometric centerpieces were such a big trend during 2020, and aren’t slowing down for this next year! These accents can be used as centerpieces, or even decor throughout the event (wedding cake topper, gift table decor, etc.) My brides have loved this trend and began adding lights to the inside for their receptions after the ceremony and it always adds a nice cozy touch. Adding lights would be so perfect for a cozy, and cool winter wedding.
During those winter months it’s can be cold and chilly, so another winter wedding idea is to have a hot chocolate bar for guests to make their own cocoa creation before the ceremony. Having different add-ins like peppermint, marshmallows, or even whipped cream and sprinkles! This gives your guests to warm up before the ceremony and get to mingle and relax before the big event. You could also personalize cups, or sleeves to put on the cups with your wedding date and you and your fiance’s name as a way to bring everything together.
This is one of my all time favorite wedding trends! Floral ties are my jam, and are a great way to bring in your wedding colors without a typical solid tie color. It adds a bohemian and whimsical vibe while bringing together other aspects of your wedding. Try to choose ties that have a floral that adds to your wedding and doesn’t take away from all your hard work. Watch out for bold colors and load prints, but soft and subtle florals that bring together your overall wedding theme.
Neon signs are such a fun wedding trend that are just making their debut and would be the perfect addition to any winter wedding. Such a fun way to celebrate the newlyweds and their new family name. It’s also a great option for a photo backdrops! It adds such a fun vibe to the event and will definitely make for a night to remember!
Blankets. Are. Life. Winter weddings are beautiful and full of fun wedding trends and ideas, however, this one is so useful and practical. Not only are they a fun wedding favor, but are totally needed during those chilly winter nights.
I always love when a bride introduces candles or twinkly lights into her wedding decor, It adds such a cozy touch and makes things feel more romantic and intimate. Lining a walkway with candles, or having them as centerpieces can add such a special touch and really elevate any winter wedding. Perfect winter wedding trend!
What is a naked cake? They are white cakes that have less frosting on them and leave the actual cake more exposed. Often times they lend to a more rustic chic theme, but are a perfect winter wedding trend for your big day! Naked cakes are so fun, and are a great way to incorporate more flowers, or other decor into the cake. Make sure to coordinate with your florist so they have the extra flowers if you decide to go with them on the cake.
No matter the wedding, any of these winter wedding trends would be a great touch to your special day!
